Baby, Toddler / Waterbug Swimming Classes at South Florida

Infants and young toddlers tend to have a smoother adjustment to a new environment and new adults if the parent or primary caretaker is present. We have three different levels of Baby and Me classes.
- Baby and Me
- 6 months – 15 months
- 16 months – 36 months
- Advanced Baby and Me
- This is for the child that has the basic concept of breath control and can swim independently for 3 feet.
- They will work on swimming longer distances and floating independently.
- Super Advanced Baby and Me
- This is for children who can swim 6 feet independently and can roll over for a breath.
- Children will work on swimming longer distances and getting ready for toddler group lessons.

Toddler or Waterbug classes are for the child between 2 and 3 ½ years old who is ready to enter a group without a parent or caregiver present. Children under the age of 2 ½ must have completed Baby & Me classes or private lessons and must be recommended by a teacher. We have four levels of Toddler/Waterbug classes.
- Waterbug
- This is for the child from 2 ½ to 3 ½ years old who is not yet comfortable with breath control or submerging. Any child that is fearful will need to start in a Baby & Me or Private lesson.
- They will work on breath control and floating skills.
- Advanced Waterbug
- This is for the child 18 months to 3 ½ years old that is comfortable under the water.
- Children under 2 ½ enrolled in a Waterbug class must be recommended by a teacher.
- Super Waterbug
- This is for the child 18 months to 3 ½ years old that can swim 3 feet independently.
- They will work on swimming longer distances and floating independently.
- They will be introduced to elementary backstroke and backstroke.
- Super Waterbug 2
- This is for the child 18 months to 3 ½ years old that can swim 6 feet independently and can float on back and roll over for a breath independently.
- They will work on swimming longer distances, side breathing and perfecting other strokes.

- Level 1
- This is for the child over 3 ½ years old who is not yet comfortable with breath control or submerging. Any child that is fearful will need to start in a Private lesson.
- Breath control and floating skills will be introduced.
- Level 2
- This is for the child over 3 ½ years old that is comfortable under the water.
- Roll over breathing will be introduced.
- Level 3
- This is for the child over 3 ½ years old that can swim 5 feet independently.
- Swimming longer distances and floating independently will be emphasized.
- Elementary backstroke and backstroke will be introduced.
- Level 4
- This is for child that can swim 6 feet independently and roll over for a breath.
- Main emphasis will be on learning side breathing.
- The child will also work on elementary backstroke, backstroke and introduce breaststroke.
- Level 5
- This is for the child that can swim 20 feet independently and know how to do side breathing.
- The child will be taught alternate side breathing, and basic breaststroke and butterfly.
- Level 6
- This is for the child that can swim 40 feet independently and will work on breaststroke and butterfly with proper timing.
- Endurance will also be emphasized.
- Training Group
- This is for children that have completed Level 6.
- Distance will be increased while introducing drills.
- They will be integrating training techniques and stroke work.
- Our goal is perfect stroke and increased endurance.
